My Final Fantasy Figures
Hi! This was my collection of Final Fantasy Figures... I ended up selling them a while ago and have left the page up for the reference of other collectors. Please enjoy looking but don't steal the pictures!
I have a printable list of all the figures I am aware of so farHERE if you have or are starting your own collection!
American Final Fantasy VII Figures
There are a total of 7 individually packaged figures in this series: Cloud, Tifa, Barret, Red XIII, Aerith, Vincent, and Sephiroth. Contrary to popular belief, Sephiroth is NOT the rarest. Barret and Red XIII are since they came packaged one to a case where as the other figures (including Sephiroth) came two to a case. Technically Red XIII is slightly rarer since Barret also came in the Boxed Set. The American version is denoted by the black warning label in the upper right corner.
Japanese Final Fantasy VII Figures
The Japanese set contained the same 7 figures however the packages were marked with a yellow 'Extra Knights' logo in the upper right instead of the black warning label. There is a slight increase in the quality of the paint job on the Japanese figures.
Final Fantasy 7 Boxed Set
This boxed set contains Barret, Tifa, Cloud, Aerith, Frog and Chocobo.
American Final Fantasy VIII Figures
There are a total of 8 individually packaged figures in this series: Squall, Seifer, Rinoa, Zell, Irvine, Laguna, Selphie, and Quistis. Irvine appears to be the rarest since he was the only figure not re-released in a boxed set.
Final Fantasy VIII Boxed Sets
There were technically two boxed sets released. The first contains Selphie, Squall, Zell, and Edea. The second contains Laguna, Rinoa, Seifer, Angelo, and Moomba. In the European version, the first set contains Quistis instead of Selphie. Edea and Moomba could only be collected through these boxed sets.
Ultima and Omega Weapon
These are a couple of the biggest figures made for the Final Fantasy series. Both appear to be cast from the same mold and just have different paint jobs. The most noticeable difference is that Ultima comes with a sword. The top half of their humanoid forms will disconnect and reattach to their animal forms. These are very rare but not impossible to find.
Painted Ragnarok
Another super rare figure from FF8, the painted Ragnarok could only be assembled by collecting all 8 grey-boxed Japanese painted guardian forces. To complicate it further, not all grey boxed GFs came with pieces, only the ones with black and white stickers on the front or with the info denoted on the back. The painted version is much rarer than its clear counterpart and a collector outside of Japan could easily spend over $400 obtaining all the pieces needed.
Clear Ragnarok
While not as rare as the painted Ragnarok, the clear Ragnarok is still very difficuly to obtain, and if you can find them... buying all the figures needed can cost a collector $250 or more. It could only be assembled by collecting all 8 grey-boxed Japanese clear guardian forces. As with the painted version, not all grey boxed GFs came with pieces, only the ones with black and white stickers on the front or with the info denoted on the back.
Final Fantasy VIII Painted Japanese GFs with Ragnarok pieces
There were 8 Guardian Forces you needed to assemble a Ragnarok: Ifrite, Siren, Shiva, Odin, Bahamut, Gilgamesh, Cerberus, and Diabolus. The Japanese version without the Ragnarok pieces also came in a grey box so note the stickers on the front of the box indicating they have a piece. You can also see the Ragnarok pieces in the packages.
Final Fantasy VIII Painted American GFs
The same 8 Guardian forces were released in America but came in red/orange packaging instead of grey. Unfortunately, no American version came with Ragnarok pieces.
Final Fantasy VIII Clear Japanese GFs with Ragnarok pieces
The same thing happened with the clear versions of the Guardian Forces as with the painted versions.
Final Fantasy VIII Clear American GFs
The same thing happened with the clear versions of the Guardian Forces as with the painted versions
Tiamat
Tiamat is actually just a Bahamut repaint done in blue and gold. It was only availible through Toyfare.
Series 3 Monsters/Guardian Forces
There were only 3 figures released in this series including: Iron Giant, Forbidden, and Odin.
Final Fantasy VIII Series 1 UFO Catchers
This first of two series of UFO Catchers featured Squall, Seifer, Selphie, Rinoa, and Zell. They came from a vending machine style game only found in Japan.
Final Fantasy VIII Series 2 UFO Catchers
This second series featured 6 different characters: Laguna, Kiros, Ward, Quistis, Irvine, and a second version of Rinoa. Again, only avalible from Japan.
1/6 Scale Final Fantasy VIII Figures
There were 6 figures released in this series: Squall, Seifer, Rinoa, Laguna, Selphie, and Quistis. Each figure comes with a collectable card. The official releases came in boxes like those pictured here. There are also many 'bootlegs' to be found in plain white packages.
American Final Fantasy IX Figures
There were 4 sets of two figures released for this series. Although FF9 had the least amount of figures released, they do come with the most accessories. The 4 sets include: Zidane & Vivi, Garnet & Steiner, Freya & Quina, and Eiko & Amarant. Eiko & Amarant and Freya & Quina are the rarest.
Japanese Final Fantasy IX Figures
The same figures were released as above. However, the Japanese version can be denoted by the number in the lower left instead of a roman numeral.
Japanese Final Fantasy IX Singles
All 8 characters were released in a single format as well. They are bigger than the twin packs but every time I read 'super real figure' on the box... it causes me to burst out laughing. I think the picture shows you why.
Final Fantasy X Figures
Unfortunately only 3 action figures were released: Seymour, Tidus, and Yuna.
Final Fantasy X Prototype figures
I was very fortunate to get these pre-paint prototype figures. Prototypes are cast in whatever plastic is on hand to check for defects in the mold. The reason they are so rare is first, not many are made and second, the ones that do get made are usually destroyed or thrown out. Mine are sealed on a Power Rangers card which was probably used as a mock-up for the final packaging concept.
American 1/6 Scale Final Fantasy X Figures
As with the FF8 figures, only 6 were selected for these: Tidus, Yuna, Auron, Rikku, Kimahri, and Lulu. And again the best male friend of the lead is left out. In this case Wakka instead of Zell. These figures are awesome both in their paint and sculpting. The American version has the black warning label at the top where as the Japanese import would not.
Final Fantasy X Monster Figures
There were 7 monsters released in FFX. Bahamut, Iron Giant, Varuna, Anima, Ultima Weapon, Yojimbo and Seymour. Bahamut, Yojimbo and Seymour were all large boxed figures while the other 4 were carded.
